  • Eddie, I didn’t think that you were allowed to use puller bungs at Rolfs? Both pictures of Steve Mayo show him using pullers!

    Was Martin fishing shllow?

  • Neil John allowed it only for a couple of anglers but you are right it generally is not allowed.
Martin started off fishing shallow then caught his fish on the top two to his left down the edge it was solid with fish, and the picture of the 19-08 common was preceeded with a mirror of 15-08 and in the time it took me to walk back to the hut Martin had caught an 18-08 common it was crazy fishing.

  • not stoking any fires but how can you have a match where 2 people are allowed to fish to different rules? lol

although I think Jon needs to allow them now there are so many skimmers, using thick elastic and ripping out of them probably does them no good. yet if you fish lighter, you know what happens! mr 20lb comes along, sods law

    • you can still land them skimmers on red hydro but it’s not easy! I bumped a couple in the last match so I’m trying something new this week, doubled up number 10 latex.

It starts nice and soft but does get firm quicker than hydro. I’ll give it a go and report back. If you see a bloke on Friday night with seven sections in the air and what looks like white hydro on then you know it didn’t work!

  • double 10 is awesome, thats what I use for shallow fishing at rolfs

And double 12 for close work, its not as beefy as red hydro so its allowed, it does seem to tame them though. I had some right donkeys last night

word of warning, give it a good old stretch before you use it as first monster you hook it hangs out about a foot lol

i wont be fishing for pesky skimmers on friday. ill be too busy trying to keep the rain off!

    • I missed last nights mate was it good? Could have gone in the end as my meeting that was scheduled for 4pm was cancelled at the last minute!!! arrrrgggh!!

  • it fished really well actually.

    1. 267lb peg 30
    2. 235lb peg 16
    3 160lb peg 18?
    4 130 i think peg 7

all the rolfs regulars had over a ton.

the last 2 hours it fished its head off, everyone was up and down like yoyos

sorry to rub it in lol

  • those areas? those pegs cover most of the lake πŸ˜›

friday should be a good match i think there could be a few big weights (famous last words or what!!)

    • yeah but they’re fliers, been stuck in 13 and 14 the last two matches, 30 and 16 are killer pegs loads of fish in them!

Never drawn peg 8, 32, 30 anything in the 20’s

I’ve had 40 a couple of times, 38, 34, 9, 7, 13 and 14 this year. Happy with 7 and 9 seem to have loads of fish in them but the others are hit n miss.

Never say you’re forward to a match, kiss off death!

  • peg 30 is far from a flier, your more than welcome to it πŸ˜›

    • It least you didn’t have far to walk back to your car after another sacking session.
Do we take it that you really wouldn’t want it again next week?

      • i’d take pegs 7, 8, 9 16, 18, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34 any day of the week just dont pull em thats all!

        who is “fish cap” anyway?

        • He is the very nice chap as it happens.
Turned up rather smartly dressed for the last night match.

          • I see, i was pegged next to you last week and i came round for a walk as i’d not seen a bite for the first two hours of the match. Looking forward to tomorrow but i think paste fishing in the dark is going to b hard, going to switch over to pellet i think at least you know that it’s on!

            • and you promptly put 100lb on the scales to take 3rd place.
Forget all those fancy Dan baits and get on the meat, it stays on, you can ship it out easy and it does catch fish.
Hope you enjoy being towed around the lake in the dark!

              • did you put them all in 1 net? πŸ˜‰

                • no, 3 nets

2 for carp, 1 for silver

always use three now, Eddies orders and i don’t want to be accused of cheating/breaking the rules.

100lb is nothing at Rolfs though can do that in an hour! Just wish i could catch well from the start rather than in the last 90 minutes all very strange. Got the feeding wrong that day, didn’t feed enough. Fed about 1/4 a pint across 4 lines

think john fed 3 pints in one hit!

                  • I know someone who had 102lb in his net yesterday πŸ˜‰ (not me!)

                  • your right. I did 120lb in last 45minutes alone yesterday!!

mr newbold, your the only person at rolfs that feeds less than me. I fed half-3/4 a bag yesterday across 2 margins and 1 shallow line

                    • if i feed i get liners and foul hookers then broken paste floats which cost Β£2 each so i don’t bother feeding much anymore.

I don’t fed margin lines either as i never seem to catch anything off them so why confuse the issue!

Anyway I’m off now got work to do!!

                      See you tomorrow

                    • tight git πŸ˜›

          • ‘impeccably is the word. he looks like hes just left court every wednesday and rushed to Rolfs πŸ˜›

        • so basically any peg in the big lake pretty much? lol

I reckon 16 will be a flier this friday if the wind stays like it is. Shallow until 9.30 and then down to that tree with rope!

  • paste fishing full stop is hard. Get a pellet on

as for peg 30, the best thing about it is the short walk! and the sacles are just behind you which is handy. that prob earned me 1 more fish as I had 18 on the board

  • pellet is much easier to fish, trust me

you cant lift and drop with paste unless you make it from concerete
