Rolfslake Sunday Open 20th May 2018.

A sunny day down the lake.

Today saw 12 anglers fish the open match on a sunny warm day down the lake.

It looked like the carp were still spawning as they could be seen still swimmng around in big groups.

Today’ winner fishing form peg 8 was Steve Wilson who fished a combination of 16 metre actoss and by the danger zone bush to his left. Steve had around 10 carp to double figures for his weight of 74-02 to win todays match ( well done Steve).

In a close battle for second was me on peg 30 and Pete Archer on peg 10.

We both struggled for the first 3 and a half hours but a switch to fishing shallow saw Pete put together a nice run of carp,  fishing pellet for his weight of 57-10.

Pete Archer (Guru)

Me (Eddie) struggled for far to long on the 10 metre line catching only 1 carp and losing 4, but a switch to fishing the pallet on 29 saw me catch another 5 carp. My weight of 6 carp and 1 bream went 58lb to beat Pete by 6 ounces in our close battle.

All my fish were caught on So Simple GRP paste whilst Pete caught his on the same companies Gonuts pellet.

I would expect to fish to have a proper feed once the spawning has finished and that could be this Wednesdays match.
