Rolfslake Wednesday Open 3rd January.

A Hurricane down the lake.

Today saw a low attended open match probably due to the fierce winds of upto 80mph.

There was also a club match going on today which John had allocated the big lake for them to use.

In first place and the first winner of 2018 was John Bennett on peg 7 who managed to catch 5 carp and also lose a few for his weight of 47-04.

John caught 1 carp on the tip and 4 on the pole fishing maggot or corn hookbait and feeding pellet.

2018 first open winner John Bennett.

The club match was won with 17lb.

Rolfslake Sunday Open 31st December 2017.

Last match of 2017.

Today saw the end of fishing down at Rolfslake for 2017. There were 13 anglers on today’ match hoping for one last enjoyable days fishing.

John had pegged all the anglers in the big lake on the basis that the deeper water would give the anglers a few bites.

The story of today’ match was the carp had pretty much switched off except on end pegs 32 and 8 and for the rest it was just a case of targeting the silvers.

The winner overall and completing a very good set of match wins was Andy Rayment fishing 32 peg by  the cafe.

For pretty much 3 and a half hours Andy only had about 4lb to show for his efforts, but his last 3 fish were a 4lb bream and 17lb carp followed by a 9lb carp for his total weight of 34-02.

Today’s winner Andy Rayment.

On peg 10 in no carp bay was John Beasley who was catching silvers pretty much from the off , and by fishing maggots put a great 21-15 to win the silvers pool.

Top Silvers weight
John Beasley 21-15.

Second in Silvers
Anthony Flint 18-07.

Top carp weight today fell to me on peg 8 fishing in the deep water catching 10 small carp and one of 15lb for a total of 17-01.

Top Carp weight
EddieT-Green 17-01.

For those looking for a good days silver fishing then Rolfslake will always get you a few bites with a chance of a carp.

Jinx Christmas Match 23rd December 2017.

The Jinx Christmas Match

Today saw Malc Doyle and his fellow Jinxsters arrive for their Christmas match and final visit of 2017.

The Jinx League has been a great support of Rolfslake during the years and today was their time to say Merry Christmas to their friends.

Today’ match saw only 3 carp caught but plenty of bites from the silvers with 6 double figure weights topped by Mick Jones with his weight of 14-13.

However 2 of those pesky carp caught by Adam Griffiths stopped Mick from winning the match as they went 20-10 between them ( well done Adam).

The gang enjoyed their days fishing and were treated to a buffet prepared by Pauline and John after the match.

Father Christmas and Oliver would like to wish all the Jinxsters and their families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Rolfslake Christmas match 17th December 2017

Rolfslake Christmas Match

Today saw 15 anglers gathered at Rolfslake looking at a frozen lake which had been partly been broken up by John and a few of the anglers.

With the draw done the anglers were seen breaking up the ice to the required distance they wanted to fish, but with the wind swirling the floating ice pieces would cause difficulties during the match.

All the anglers today brought a wrapped gift which would be raffled by peg numbers at the end so everyone would be a winner .

On a difficult cold and rainy day any angler who could fish to a feature would have a great chance and today Steve Waters was one of the anglers.

Fishing peg 34 along the rope Steve managed to catch about 7 carp fishing at full depth to claim victory with his winning weight of 56-06 .

In second place and right opposite Steve was Jeff Bond on peg 7 who manged a couple of big carp on the tip for his weight of 28-00.

The anglers would like to thank John and Pauline for preparing a lovely buffet after the match which was appreciated by all.

As for me, after a tough day on peg 10 at least I won the Christmas hamper for the second year running so I defended my lucky streak for another year.

May on behalf of John and Pauline Bennett ,Simon and myself wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
