  • Well done Crabtree’s on a well deserve d win, and what a spectacular blowout from RTG in the final round. Walker Floats must be rueing not having a sub as they could of also of won the league ,but great effort from Derek and Steve.
Well done to all the anglers on a well run and exciting winter league with very good total weights ,who said Rollfs fishes hard in the winter.

  • Morning Gents, I’m looking to join a team for the Spring league, anyone need a new team mate?

Andy Quarmby about anywhere? He’s not in a team, just need one more and we have a squad

    Mark

  • We’re over the moon with our league win….. it shows that perseverence with our plans worked in the end….happy days!

  • Nothing like joining the winning team! Paul you up for it mate?

Where’s Andy Q? on every day in the summer!

    • Hey up Mr Dupiaza hows tricks. Sorry only just seen your message

I have been coming on, just reading the results though thats all. Not many sarcy posts recently 😉

      • cool.

You know those fish will swim striaght into the small lake as soon as there’s a match on in the big lake.

I’ve seen it time and time again.

How many time has an end peg won at Rolfs?

Last years lake king was off end peg 8
not sure if 2010 lake king was off an end peg 32 but i wouldn’t bet against it!

        • guy on 32 will chuck a bomb into middle on small lake 😛

seriously though, I dont think that will happen. It depends on the weather. If it comes cold id rather not peg the small lake and risk that happeneing rather than peg it and sit there brain dead.

On a really mild match last Jan I had an amazing 9oz from peg 6 and that was using bloodworm lol!

now, yes before anyone pipes up, im crap, but not that crap 😛

  • I spoke to Paul, and he says he is up for it, although the league may not go ahead and is dependent on team numbers, cheers Neil

  • Rayment said to me that they might look at a pairs event instead, i think that has some mileage in it, it’s easier to find one bloke to fish with than two!

less section prizes too so cheaper to fund

  • Well done, CRABTREES.
Nice to see the League win got a smile out of Paul.(or was that due to a section win off my favourite peg 10!)
It’s been good to read the reports as they come in, nice work Si & Eddie.
Lets hope the weather stays decent for the spring league too.

  • according to my sources it was more like a win off peg 13 fished from peg 10!

  • Casting has never been one of Pauls strong points.

  • Right guys what’s happening with the spring league thing? from what I know there are at least two teams dropping out from the 5 that fished the winter league, that includes our team (walker floats) and Frank Hardie’s team. That then leaves 3 teams, added to which I don’t think Phil Powell or Mick Lane are interested in fishing for RTG if it’s only 3 teams, and to be honest I don’t blame them. Personally I’m not interested in fishing a 3 team spring league, what’s the point, therefore I’d suggested that maybe John could run a pairs league at least that way you havent got run about chasing up people to fish. I’ve also suggested that the match be pegged from Peg9 around to Peg32 so the small lake can be left out, as we all know this can be brutal during the cold snaps and extremely unfair IMO, I know we could easily peg 14 pegs in the big lake, the carp wont be everywhere but at least you’ll be able to catch silvers as well for your team mate if needed, and with 14 fishing it’s going to make a difference with sections points.

Here’s my idea (and it’s only an idea), entry could be £20 per person to enter the league, that’ll provide £280 for the overall payout over 4/5/6 matches whatever John has available dates wise, paying £160 to the Winning Pair and £120 to the runners up. Pools for each match could be £25 per angler, this would provide a total of £350 (now this is based on 7 pairs of course) of which I’m assuming John takes £8 peg fee (£112.00) which leaves us with £238 to pay out for each match, my suggestion would be to pay the top 3 pairs each match, that’s nearly half the anglers getting money back, 1st=£110, 2nd=£70, 3rd=£58.

It’s only an idea lads, but if there is no spring league then we’re all without a match to go too, the monies are only my idea but this way everyone’s got a chance at a piece of the pie, surely we could get 14 anglers together for this no problem, myself and Derek Hammond will fish so and I know a few of the lads made noises at the weekend that they’d be interested. I’d even run it myself if needed……..

    • As regards payout, in theory you could win the match overall and not win a penny. Would make you feel a bit sick to be honest.

Id have to make Pat walk home 😛

  • sounds pretty good to me. I’d be up for that.

The little lake will start to fish soon so i still think it should be used to stop end peg 9 winning every week

  • there is no way peg9 will we every week believe me, besides the small lake will be so unfair, unless youre on 34 or 2 you WON’T compete, that’s the whole idea of keeping in the main lake, to make it fairer.

  • I think thats a really good idea re pairs.

As for Dupiaza comments about the little lake. You have to remember we are only in mid January, we will get some more bad weather before spring, it has to happen soon

the little lake will go dog sh*t again

My only worry would be that if the little lake didnt get fished for ages is that the wise old dogs would all go and sit in the little lake out of the way but I cant imagne that TBH.

I guess also the pegging doesnt have to be set in stone. It can be changed to what we see fit. Its not the world champs after all.

PS Me and Pat would be interested but I need to double check the dates

  • Hi Andy, I know what you mean about winning the match and potentially not picking up money, but to be honest it’s a pairs match and that’s the point, you’ve got twice the chance of picking up money with two average results. There was a few gripes about the payout on the Winter League, finishing 2nd in the match and not picking up a bean for example, again that’s teams fishing for you.

End pegs winnning at Rolfs all the time………youre kidding right?

  • Hello all, signed up and long last. Looking forward to seeing whats going to happen with the pairs?
Where can i find the preposed dates???

  • The dates Ian are the
    29th JAN
    5TH FEB
    19TH FEB
    4TH MARCH
    11TH MARCH
    25TH MARCH.

And guys both the small and the big lakes are both in if we get the max 12 pairs required .
