  • 2 million bites, what more can you ask for in January??

  • I agree, Andy.
It was another excellent day at the lake. Full credit to John for getting the water level down.
Nice warm day and plenty of silvers caught, shame more dont come along and enjoy a day of bites aplenty.
Well done to Wayne for his cracking 21lber, stunning fish.

  • I agree. Silver matches at royal berks where 20lb frames, every man and his dog is clambering to get on them yet rolfs is miles better

    • I didn’t see too many bigger fish in your bulging net so estimate you had about 250 fish averaging 2ozish. You must have been whipping them out right quite cos I only see you swing a few in!
Neil had some good Bream too.
It was quite amusing watching John trying to fish long pole with Ollie sat on his lap!

  • had 8 perch for prob 6lb but not many decent roach

there didnt seem to be as many bigger roach where we were. Wayne struggled on 30 really without that whale of a carp.

maybe I should have fished a bit further out I dunno but it was weird, the only thing I could catch on the bottom was perch, the roach were having none of it regardless of how heavy I fed, and I proper piled the bait in.

I fancied 22,24,26,28 as you have depth under your feet and the trees are good holding features

    I had a good 200 fish I reckon

    • I think the Roach were off bottom in my swim, they rarely took the bait once it has settled so there was quite a bite of lift & drop going on. Maybe I should have tried a bit shallower. Had to keep searching around for them, they didn’t seem to want to stay in one zone for long. Went out a bit further but only got really small Roach. Think they wanted to be near the shelf but those brutal Perch kept chasing them off!
Cant knock 200 fish in 300 minutes.
Hope I can get along to the lake again soon.

  • still wish id had a go down the channel for the skimmers it was probably solid but I had Mick Jones whiplass-itus

  • too right! lol

i picked up my skimmer rig 2ce but both times caught a decent fish so put it down

tbh i was enjoying what I was doing is the main reason

Although that 2 tonne carp nearly put the mockers on it!

I was glad he caught it and then went on the pole I bet he’d have had another

    • Hope Wayne can get one of his photo’s of his beast on the match report for all to see, at least you were good enough to give him room to play it!

  • I ended up 3 foot deep in 6 foot but the fish were 2oz, not 8oz like your beauties

they were boling last 20 mins

    • I was determined to make every fish count. Only had x2 drop off as I swung them in, netted quite a few even though they were smallish (if I could see a maggot hanging out it’s mouth it got netted) even found myself reaching for the net when I had a gudgeon on! must get use to this light elastic mularkey.

  • ha ha, ‘andy i think its coming your way’…then it swirled in peg 7

think you left the warning a bit late Wayne 😛

tbh it went absolutely mental, shooting from 13 right down to the little lake and he was trying his best, his drennan pubble chucker was virtually snapping

  • tbh i didnt have a clue what was going on, with the pump, the guys shooting, and the m40 being busy I couldn’t hear a thing, not even JB shouting down. Wayne kept talking to me but it was difficult.

wish someone had got a photo of the carp in peg 34 you could send it to the ATimes and they probably wouldnt believe you

    • That area was truely SOLID.
Just had a look at the calander and think my next trip wont be til 9th Feb (as long as winter hasn’t arrived by then.)

  • does make me wonder, that when they clearly want to come up for food, if they are all swimming at half depth and fishing double corn shallow might work

was amazed how many skimers fed. In the spring league usually the only peg that gets a few is 7 or 8,

not peg 28 fishing at 5m on pellet

  • -3 here last night

proper beast of a frost but supposed to be 2-4oC all night rest of week
