Bank Holiday Open Match. 2nd May 2011

Very windy down the lake again today

17 anglers turned up today on a very very windy day down the lake. It was windy yesterday as well but hopes of it dying down were shattered at 7.30 when branches started dropping off the tree’s as the wind picked up again.

Before everyone else got to the lake John had a bit of a problem with a cormorant. He had been eating the fish from the lake and then having a bath in the salt dips…

Naughty Bird

Pretty much everyone today was going to be suffering from the wind in one way or another.

More to follow…bed time 🙂

Saturday 16th April 2011 Open Match

Waiting for the draw

The weather down the lake today was nice and sunny but as the match progressed it went cloudy. Very little wind on the lake today.

15 anglers turned up today for the open match. John had pegged to the little lake and the bowl and peg 14 and 16 in the big lake. There was also 2 pleasure anglers on the carp park bank.

Fishing today was from 12.15 to 5.15.

The actual fishing was quite hard going today. Everyone caught but it was very slow going. John on peg 16 was catching steady off the bush to his left but started catching regularly in the last hour of the match. Andy on peg 40 had been fishing shallow at 14.5 meters and had been picking fish off through out the match but could not put a good run of fish together. Simon on peg 7 had caught from the 6 meter line at the start of the match and then switched to fishing the bomb to the far bank but could only get a bite right next tot he bank in the cut out.

Nick Horn on peg 32 was picking up the odd carp from the bush and Simon Enticott on peg 9 started finding a few fish in the last hour also. Mick Hughes was catching from peg 4 along with Ernie on peg 38. Everyone else was struggling for bites. The lake fished pretty much the same as last Saturday.

Lake King broken in 3 days. 30th March 2011

Wednesday Open Match. 30th March 2011.

Todays winner Jon Walker takes the lake king title and gets his picture in the banner. This is nothing new for Jon though as he often frames at the lake.

He thinks the reason behind the big weight was the change in draw and fishing times. 1pm draw, fishing 2pm-7pm

A nice backup weight from lake owner John Bennett shows the fish are clearly waking up and are hungry for some proper food.

Big fish also showing early with a 22lb carp coming from peg 7 to go with another 18lb’er for Jon Walker. Last year the big fish put in quite an appearance. Lets hope they continue this year.

Results. Top 10
