A tough day down the lake.
With the new later start times for these Wednesday Opens hopefully you will see two things, more anglers attending these matches and the weights start to rocket so fingers crossed.
Today saw a warm day but with a stiff breeze blowing fom the small lake but this still not get the fish to go down in the water as from where i was on peg 9 there were at least 200 carp between me and Mick Jones on peg 32.
The match started slowly except for Russ on peg 18 as he had a very quick carp within the first few minutes and that was his match done, but for the rest it was a case of trying to get the surface carp to feed which really did not happen.
The winner today and sporting a nice new Diawa top was Kev Dolton on peg 13. Kev started shallow and was rewarded with a couple of carp fishing pellet and feeding pellet at about two feet deep but when he switched to his left hand edge towards the thick tree trunk at about 5 metres the carp were waiting for him.Kev caught relatively small carp from this peg but it was just enough to stay in front from the chasing pack as he weighed 80-08 for the win.
Todays winner and the man in red Kev Dolton.
In second place was the Pirate {me} who today had the sole intention of just fishing paste on peg 9. It was slow at the start as the breeze was quite strong for me fishing soft paste at range towards the bush as it kept coming off but as soon as the wind died down i had 7 carp to 16lb for 73-01 fishing paste feeding 6mm pellet.
In third place was Colmic’s Geoff Edwards on peg 22 who started very slowly but in the last 40 minutes was flying but just ran out of time catching down the right hand side just down the ledge fishing pellet for his weight of 53-07.
