Gary Horne
Gary Horne had booked the lake for a small private match. 19 anglers were fishing today. The draw was at 10am, fishing 12-5pm. I was late getting to the lake so had what was left in the bag….. A phone call to John reveals I am on peg 7 again after I was on it Saturday also and didnt do very well. Least my rigs were all ready 😀
Arriving at the lake everyone else was busy setting up and after a quick word with John and a Hello to Gary I went off to set up myself which didn’t take too long.
Now Im sorry I did not catch everyones names but here are some pictures of people around the lake.

Getting to my peg, Steve on peg 8 looked quite disappointed as he thought he had a spare peg but after I told him it would be like fishing with a spare peg he seemed ok 😀 John Bennett had come round too and seen that Steve was using an Airity and said the carp at Rolfs like to eat them, his reply was something like ahh they won’t break this…..
All in whistle sounded and Steve went down the track and was greeted with a bite right away, his elastic streamed out and towards peg 32 before heading back towards the bush on peg 9 and 8. His line went dead and his rig came back. Second put in on a different track line produced another fish, this time it went straight in the bush and snagged him up. He pulled for a break but instead of the line breaking his top kit did… doh.
Fishing was slow and I could see peg 6 having a few fish and Robin over on 37 was having a few fish. Round in big lake Derek Hammond on peg 17 had a storming start but then slowed down. Gary Horne on peg 18 had a few fish out and then went on his bush line which produced on of two 18lb 4oz carp today.
Gary with an 18lb'er
Gary was paying out 1st and second today along with biggest carp and largest silver bag. With the match nearing the end peg 6 was catching a few along with peg 10 and Gary was still having a few. I had started to catch after some tuition off John 😛 Robin on peg 37 still had his elastic coming out regularly too. Malc over on peg 34 was fishing the waggler and was catching plenty of silvers along with an 17lb’er. He then latched in to something large which led him on a merry tour of the little lake. After about 10 minutes he nets it but didn’t lift his landing net high enough out the water and the fish swam out and spat the hook out as it said goodbye to him.
With the match over everyone packed away and we waited to go round and do the weigh in.
tick tock
The weigh in went by quite fast and as Robin was one of the first to be weighed he set the benchmark with a weight of 141-0 of carp and peg 4 set the silvers only weight at 12lb 8oz. The weights were too good to beat though. Everyone had caught fish and had a good day.
Results.
