Rolfslake Wednesday Open 22nd November 2017
A windy day down the lake.
It was great to be back down the lake after a gap of 5 weeks due to work.
Today saw 10 anglers eager to catch some fish with different strategies on display with most fishing out for carp and a couple targeting the silvers.
With a very strong gusting wind making presentation very difficult today was a waiting game.
I saw a funny thing today as a postman was seen delivering mail to John Bennett on peg 14 as he has been camped there the last 6 weeks lol.
The match started slowly as the conditions were difficult except for Dave Wilsden and Pete Archer who were happy amassing a good silver weight, which after 5 hours was just won by Pete with his weight of 17-15 to Daves 16-09.
The winner of today’ match and continuing his great form was John Bennett on peg 14. John fished corn feeding pellet on his right hand edge and had 9 carp to just 10lb to just stay ahead by 7lb or so ( well done JB).
In second place was Doug Hill on peg 9 .
Doug fished really well to the bush to his right and using maggot and worm hookbait feeding pellet caught 8 carp again to double figures but his weight of 65-04 at least won his his section .
In third place was me on 32 and after fishing down the chanel I thought I had hooked a carp but when it surfaced at the net was a big pike which broke me.
I ended up catching 2 carp and 4 bream and a few big bream fishing corn feeding micros for my weight of 31-01.
The carp are still very active as Taff in the small lake had 8 to 17lb fishing peg 38.
