Rolfslake Wednesday Open 11th April 2011.
The Crocodile makes his third appearance in a week.
After the three day Easter festival that was won by Mark Maylin, the anglers were hoping that with fewer anglers on the lake today that the carp would have a proper feed . With a frost the previous two mornings thing were only going to get worse for the unlucky 13 as John tells me that it started sunny and warm turning windy and then all hell broke loose as there was thunder and hailstones so just another day down the lake.
In first place today was Paul Jay who we now think is from another planet as no human could draw the amount of flyers as he does, as today he drew peg 18 on the motorway bank with the wind blowing into his corner with fish topping. John tells me that Paul caught on the waggler and pole fishing banded pellet and caught carp to double figures for his final weight of 129-00 {well done Paul }.
In second place a having a good run was Dai Thomas who had drawn opposite to Paul on peg 22 on the carp park bank, and after catching his first carp at 21-04 went on to putting a good bag of carp together on what John believes was pole fished with pellet hookbait fished on the deck for his final weight and second ton of the day with 107-00. Completing the frame was lake owner John Bennett who was on iffy peg 8, and after failing to find any of Mark Newbolds tackle from last week told me that after a slow start he tried fishing 16 metres across with little success. On feeding a few more pellets at 16 metres he saw some fish swirling so he baited with a 11mm donkey choker pellet shipped out and as soon as the float settled it shot away, thinking it was a carp got ready to land it only to find the pet crocodile or pike looking up at him. The pike was the same one that Clive and Chris had caught last week as it had the same markings but this time weighed in at 13-08 but John also had a 4-08 chub to go eventually with some carp in his weight of 68-04 and a rather mixed bag for John.

Thanks for reading John ,Simon and Eddie.
That pike must be on a suicide mission though it is having a chomp doing so.
First day Clive caught it at 13lb, Chris had it at over 14lb and now 13lb 8oz. Unbelievable really
I think that Pikes weight depends on when it last swollowed a Chub!
Yes exactly Mick, that’s why it was in peg 8, loads of chub under the far bank
It was after frogs believe it or not, they have started breeding…mmm crunchy frog…lol
Are Frogs allowed as bait?or would that be classed as live baiting!
Could always mulch a few up as a Pikeypaste!
Has the cloud of dust settled in the car park yet LOL
Will get the blender out and give it a try Mick lol Still a bit of a dusty haze in the car park Steve lol
Quality. I take it he had a cob on?
Has Paul set up camp on peg 18? Every time I look at the results he’s on the same peg!
Those fish refuse to move from that end of the lake. 18 and 22 are permanently solid.
not in the festival with the wind blowing into 2 and 40 it wasnt! lol
Proper felt for Mick Lane sat on 19 on monday, that was as cruel as cruel can be
Anyone else going Saturday ?
I wouldn’t mind catching that pike too 😀
nope. Going to Farlows, crystal clear lake with quaility bream and and Tench. I wouldn’t class it as a commecial, proper fishing – can be rock hard!
Lower my expectations rather than expecting a double ton everytime I go out.
And i might not fall in…..
yes im going si also mark how is the bream fishing up there is it still fishing well and are they coming out on the same pegs for example peg 28
