Rolfslake Saturday Open 26th March 2011
Today the anglers were greeted with a lake full of cruising carp which were going to tease the 9 anglers down the lake by being visible but by not feeding for any length of time. Also added to the fact that the lake was covered with the blossom off the trees which the carp were happy to try and feed on and you know the anglers were going to have a tough day.
John tells me that the winner today was John Walker fresh from his Angling Times feature last Tuesday and who was fishing peg 13 in todays match. Jon fished the pole with pellet to catch his carp but it was hard going to keep the fish coming and after 5 hours Jon ended with a modest 61-14 weight for Rolfslske but still a match win { well done Jon }.
After visiting the lake on Friday there were literaly hundreds of carp cruising around the lake just waiting for the right conditions to start feeding properly and i expect the first big weight of the year a 200lb + to be only a week or two away. Coupled with the fact that the Wednesday opens have a later start time now this always brings out the big weights and also a bigger attendance in these matches, so if you want to catch a PB match weight or a double figure carp now will start to be your best chance of both.
9 fished todays match.

Nice Picture Eddie. Good to see you Back 🙂
Thanks Simon i can assure you i cant wait to get back to my fishing when i finish my Guernsey / Jersey stint away.
Thanks for keeping all things upto date on the site, once my laptop comes back from the shop i can take it away with me to do some work on the site.
And just 24 hours later Eddies predicted first double ton of the year was caught,
Nice picture Eddie, some sort of very wide angled lens I suspect. Took me a few moments to work it out.
Well done John on what seems to have been a tricky day.
Not a bad prediction if i say so myself Mick, after over 10 years fishing Rolfs you get a feel for when the fish will switch on and it was just a matter of time before the years first 200lb.
The lens used was wide angled but is a combination of 6 pictures that i took stitched together and even i think it looks good. I will work on the small lake when i am down there next
Hi, Eddie.
After reading the match report I rushed to reread my AT but coudn’t see any feature, then I got this weeks copy and there they are all over the place!
Steve looks good as a page 3 fella!
Well done chaps.
Stiching pictures together, now that’s something I bet John will not be doing for a while.
