Rolfslake Open 19th March 2017

Cold blowy day down the lake.

Today saw 9 anglers turn up on a cold and very windy day to fish today’s match.

With the anglers spread around the lake on all the feature pegs hoping they would have both a few fish and some shelter out of the wind.

Today winner was Tony Rowe who was fishing peg 2 at the bottom of the small lake where the wind was blowing in to. Tony fished in front of peg 3’s platform where he found fish waiting and by using pellet and corn he caught carp to double figures in his weight of 88-06.

Today’s winner Tony Rowe.

In second place was me who was fishing my new favourite peg 14 on the motorway bank. After starting on the top 2 catching silvers I then hooked a carp and then lost the next two.

A switch to my right hand bush fishing corn hookbait and feeding maggots resulted in 7 more carp to 19lb losing 7 in my final weight of 81-11.

Second place for Eddie.

Completing the frame was John Bennett on peg 10 who also beneffited from the wind blowing into his bank. After a couple of fish fishing short , John then went long infront of peg 11 where he caught another 8 carp. As with most anglers today John lost a lot of fish but  he was happy with his weight of 79-13 although he would of loved 2lb more.

Third place for John Bennett.

John has allowed the retention of all fish during the colder months whilst the fishing has been slower, but the rule of weighing of fish over 10lb will soon be restored.

The exception of this will be the forthcoming Easter festival.
