Rolfslake Winter Pairs Round 1.

Top weight of the year in today’s match.

Today saw the start of the winter pairs series which today there were 5 pairs with two added pairs for this round only.

One of the anglers fish for silvers only with the other.fishing for both carp and silvers incase the carp don’ feed.

Today saw a continuation of the big carp coming out with Malc Doyle winning the carp section, with the top weight of the year with his weight of 155-14 .

Malc fish both bomb and long pole on peg 38 in the small lake to catch big carp well into double figures for a great start to the series.

Winning the silvers section was regular framer Andy Quarmby.

Andy had to work hard for for his fish as he had to fish long on peg 26 and a combination of adjusting depths and fishing maggot gave him.a great weight of 22-15.

Top team on the day was Malc and Mick Jones who scored 3 points.

John has 4 places up for grabs for the next 5 rounds to keep the numbers at 14 anglers. If you can fish any of these date please give John a call.

As the league has started you will fish each for the pools in each match but your points will not count.

If you and a friend want to fish let John know.

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 3rd January.

A Hurricane down the lake.

Today saw a low attended open match probably due to the fierce winds of upto 80mph.

There was also a club match going on today which John had allocated the big lake for them to use.

In first place and the first winner of 2018 was John Bennett on peg 7 who managed to catch 5 carp and also lose a few for his weight of 47-04.

John caught 1 carp on the tip and 4 on the pole fishing maggot or corn hookbait and feeding pellet.

2018 first open winner John Bennett.

The club match was won with 17lb.

Rolfslake Sunday Open 31st December 2017.

Last match of 2017.

Today saw the end of fishing down at Rolfslake for 2017. There were 13 anglers on today’ match hoping for one last enjoyable days fishing.

John had pegged all the anglers in the big lake on the basis that the deeper water would give the anglers a few bites.

The story of today’ match was the carp had pretty much switched off except on end pegs 32 and 8 and for the rest it was just a case of targeting the silvers.

The winner overall and completing a very good set of match wins was Andy Rayment fishing 32 peg by  the cafe.

For pretty much 3 and a half hours Andy only had about 4lb to show for his efforts, but his last 3 fish were a 4lb bream and 17lb carp followed by a 9lb carp for his total weight of 34-02.

Today’s winner Andy Rayment.

On peg 10 in no carp bay was John Beasley who was catching silvers pretty much from the off , and by fishing maggots put a great 21-15 to win the silvers pool.

Top Silvers weight
John Beasley 21-15.

Second in Silvers
Anthony Flint 18-07.

Top carp weight today fell to me on peg 8 fishing in the deep water catching 10 small carp and one of 15lb for a total of 17-01.

Top Carp weight
EddieT-Green 17-01.

For those looking for a good days silver fishing then Rolfslake will always get you a few bites with a chance of a carp.
