Rolfs Team Gold clawing their way back

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 2nd March 2011

With the attendances starting to grow slowly in the midweek opens the anglers were again greeted with a cold day with a swirling wind that again made fishing the long pole very difficult.

With the lake also carrying alot of rain water from the last two weeks, one think is certainly required and that is a pair of wellies as the platforms are under water at the moment as John cannot lower the lake as the fields aare still flooded.

The winner of todays match was lake owner John Bennett who caught his fish on a combination of the tip and the long pole as the swirling wind made fishing the pole difficult for any length of time and by fishing corn and pellet John managed to keep the fish coming and also found time to lose 5 fish in his final weight of 76-04 {well done John }.

In second place was the drawer of flyers { peg 9 this time } Paul Jay Who caught most of his fish by the right hand bush, and Paul also used corn and pellet to catch his fish and in the end was two carp off victory in his weight of 61-08. Completing the frame was Graham Ridgley who fished peg 14 and who also caught carp in his weight of 28-08.

Todays winner lake owner John Bennett.

Rolfslake Saturday Knock up 26th February 2011

Heavy rain over the last week has made things very mucky down the lake and also resulted in the water level coming up over the platforms again, however the fishing is good with a lot of carp topping all over the lake and silvers everywhere.

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 23rd February 2011

Dave Whiteman makes it two victories in a week.

With a few more anglers coming down to the lake for the midweek opens, today they were going to be greeted with another horrid day of rain with the lake water over the platforms but the match anglers and the pleasure anglers were still going to catch a few fish today.

With the club matches due to start in the next four weeks or so and the chances of fishing Rolfslake at the weekend being restricted to the odd few and with the Spring league and the Easter Festival also either in play or coming soon the Wednesday opens will be your main chance to fish  this brilliant lake.

With the usual suspects down the lake the anglers were drawn in the big lake with the pleasure anglers in the small lake and from what John tells me was that in what ended a close match the winner today was lake regular Dave Whiteman who made it two victories in a week this time fishing peg 16 on the motorway bank. Dave used a combination of the tip and the pole fished with corn and pellet and was rewarded with carp in his final weight of 88-08 and first place. In second place was Frank Donaghie with 78-08 from peg 14 and Paul Jay was third with 62-08 from peg 62-08.

The interesting fact from todays match was Mick Lane who was fishing the LEFT bush on peg 13 and was rewarded with 21-00 of perch { John tells me Mick had 7 perch over 2lb } in his overall weight of 32-00 fishing maggot at 3 metres.

Two wins in a week for Hydro 2000 sponsored Dave Whiteman.
