Jinx League 2 day pairs match. Day 1

20120908_170548

Today Rolfslake welcomed Malc Doyle and his Jinx’s anglers who were fishing their first match of the year down the lake and today it was their pairs 2 day match but please dont ask why there was an odd number of anglers.

The weather was the normal mix of sun, rain ,hail and wind making life uncomfortable for the anglers but the end result was a great weight for Simon W from peg 7 with 169-02 and then a very tight squeeze for 2nd to 5th which was won by Malc Doyle with 94-06 from peg 22 at the bottom of the big lake.

Once i get the pairs results i will post them.

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 24th April 2013.

The fish are on the move.

Todays match was held in the big lake but there were fish every where today with every peg in the small lake either having fish in the margins or up in the water so signs were good for all the anglers. The fastest fish hooked today was in 2 seconds and eventually landed by Andy Quarmby on peg 24 even before most of the anglers had even shipped out so things were looking good for Andy as he eventually went on to win the match with his weight of 177-04 fishing a combination of long fishing shallow and 7 metres fished on the deck both lines fished with 8mm hard banded pellet feeding 3 bags of pellet to get the fish feeding properly.

Todays winner Middy sponsored Andy Quarmby.

Andy had fish to double figures which always helps and also a couple of bream but missed a few bites due to the amount of fizzing bubbles in his swim but a slight adjustment of his tactics kept the fish coming to claim the peg king off Johnny Broadbent { well done Andy }. The close battle for second was between Paul Jay on 9 and Andy Rayment on 16 both fishing corn and pellet feeding pellet but Paul was fishing the bush to his right on 9 and Andy was fishing 16 metres shallow and after 5 hours the two were seperated by 11lb with Paul having 133-09 to Andy’s 122-07 which included a beast of 21lb plus.

Second place Paul Jay.

The lake fished alot better than of late with there being 5 ton plus weights and two just under in with the Jinx league fishing their two day match this weekend and the fish in feeding mode i think their match should be a cracker.

Just a few more photos from today.

Matchfishing scene match 21st April 2013.

The crocodile and his mate make an appearance today.

Today Matchfishingscene visited Rolfslake today and the 13 anglers were greeted with a sunny day and plenty of carp sunbathing around the lake and for some even the pike were visible but fishing was consistent with last Wednesdays match.

Todays match was won by Paul Robinson who was fishing peg 4 in the small lake and Paul managed to put together a good bag of carp  for the match win closely followed by Jon Walker as the only other angler to weigh over a ton.

Matt Edwards was kept company by two of the big pike that had come into the shallows to spawn and if you look closely you can see his mate below him.

The crocodile and his mate below, Thanks to Matt Edwards for the photo.

Peg Kings 2013

20120908_170548

I have updated the peg kings for 2013 for those anglers that are precious to see if they have made it onto the peg kings/ Queen board.

Remember that the changes from last year are that it must be a open / club / league / festival that is fished by more than 10 anglers and club match secretaries must give to John a full set of results from their matches.

Since we set this up a couple of years ago and it started as a bit of fun for the anglers but last year it seemed to get serious as the anglers were desperate to get on the peg king board.

If you have the top weight of the year to date which currently is held by Middy sponsored Andy Quarmby with 214-05 then you get your picture on the home page banner.

Who can beat Andy Quarmbys current top Rolfslake weight of 214-05 ?.

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 17th April 2013.

20120908_170548

The Rolfslake carp are sturring from their sleep.

With the only way to fish Rolfslake being a Wednesday due to club bookings filling the weekends today started to bring a few more anglers hoping to catch a few carp with the later draw times { 1pm }.

John tells me that the weather today was overcast with sunny spells but a horrible blustery wind made fishing the long pole virtually impossible for some of the anglers and that where you wanted to draw was somewhere on the car park bank which was a little calmer.

Also today saw the return of a few anglers that had not been to Rolfslake for a while in the shape of Jon Walker and Mark Newbold and normally when they are about the weights normally go up so hopefully they would bring some good luck for the rest of the anglers.

It was decided to fish the big lake pegs 8 all the way around to 32 but you did not want peg 8 as there was a strong wind blowing through the gap between the big and small lake and you guessed it today it was drawn by lake owner John Bennett.

Todays winner and no stranger to match wins was Rolfslake lake record holder Jon Walker who was on peg 16 on the motorway bank and Jon used a combination of waggler and long pole fishing corn and pellet to catch carp to double figures in his weight of 182-12 { well done Jon }.

anglingtimesday027

Todays winner Jon Walker { Walker Floats }.

In a close battle for second was a straight battle between  Andy Quarmby and John Emerson on pegs 9 and 26 which was won by Andy by 3lb ,as Andy’s weight went 107-08 to John’s 104-08 which also included a carp of 23lb ( well done Guys for beating the ton weight ).

As the weather is set to be 10 degrees plus I expect the carp to now start to feed in numbers as they have been hibernating since the early part of the year. Also with Wednesday now being your only chance to fish Rolfslake and with new anglers turning up weekly if you are interested in fishing please book in with John Bennett to avoid disappointment.
