Rolfslake may Bank holiday Monday open.

What a difference a day makes.

Today saw some returning and new visitors fish todays match.

Unlike yesterdays match the carp decided to play ball and have a proper feed.

The winner today was Steve Waters (Drennan) who had a lovely day on peg 30 by the car park. Steve fished a combination of a short line and down to the next pallet to catch fish to double figures in his winning weight of154-08.

Today’s winner.
Drennan Sponsored Steve Waters.

In second place was John Beesley who was fishing peg 18 yet again. John fished along the edge to his left again catching fish to double figures in his weight of 116-09.

Completing the frame was Neil Jeacock who was returning after his successful day being coached by Jon Arthur. Neil fished peg 5 in the small lake and was rewarded with big carp in his weight of 88-06.

With the club match bookings starting shortly John will be looking to run a few Saturday opens so look out for details on the website or Facebook pages.

Dave Wilsden Charity MATch

Dave Wilsden Charity Match.

Today saw 17 anglers come to support Dave Wilsden in raising some money for charity.

The two charities that were going to be supported this year were,

RNLI and

Cancer research .

The anglers were seperated into 3 sections with the top overall ,top carp weight and top silvers weight being paid out in each section.

After 5 hours on a moody and cold Rolfslake but fished in good spirits the results can be seen below.

At the end of the day Dave together with anglers and friends raised a fantastic £210 which was going to be shared equally between the two charities.

Dave and Graham would like to thank all the angler both at the lake and the ones that were unable to attend and also John and Pauline for looking after the anglers during the day.

Rolfslake Wednesday open 24th April

Land of the Giants in today’s match.

Today’s midweek match saw another collection of specimen size fish caught upto 22lb but also many over 14lb.

Todays winner and lake regular was (Top Tackle’s) Gordon Worrell who was fishing peg 16 on the motorway bank.

Gordon fished a combination of corn and pellet to catch his 10 carp and fished straight out and on the deck for his weight of 92lb

In second place was me Eddie and I fished the Bush to my left on peg 8 called the jungle and managed to catch 6 carp for 82 and a new PB common of 22lb.

I fished micro pellet and SoSimple GRP paste also feeding corn.

In third place was Mick Chappell who was very close and again caught big carp for his weight of 77lb.

When the weather becomes a bit more stable I expect the weights to rocket over 200lb as these fish are certainly big in this lake.

Gordon Worrell. Top Tackle.

ETG with a new carp PB of 22-00.

rolfslake easter festival day 3

Final day shootout.

With 7 anglers in with a chance of being crowned Easter Festival Champion ,day 3 saw a more serious mood from the anglers at the top as they were hoping for a reasonable draw and a half chance of getting decent points.

With B section having most of the contenders at the top and the anglers hoping for either pegs 8,9,10 or 32 they were going to take valuable points of each other and in the case today 1 lost fish would cost Geoff Edwards the chance to be champion.

Kev Simpson and Richard Farrow in sections A and C saw indiffernt draws with Richard drawing the aquarium peg 34 in the small lake and Kev drew peg 26 which had resulted in very few fish over the previous 2 days.

The story of the match saw Richard into fish right away and the main battle in C section revolving around the junction between the big and small lake peg 8,9, and 32 as the anglers went fish for fish during the 5 hours.

A section was a very tight affair apart from Richard with 1 fish more gaining extra points and in the previous good C section the fish just turned off making it a struggle to catch any in numbers.

As you can see from the results below the final points total was very tight and places being decided by weight count back.

In the end and after making the best of 3 good draws the 2019 Easter Festival Champion is Preston Blackhorse angler Richard Farrow who ended up with 5 points 2x second places and a section win. Richards top weight came on the last day in A section where he caught on pellet and paste to catch 10 carp for 70-15 {very well done Richard}.

2019 Rolfslake Easter Festival Champion Richard Farrow.

The runner up this year was Guru backed Geoff Edwards who had a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd in section but it was going to be day 3 that has denied Geoff the title as he was pipped to 2nd place in section by 2-01 and that extra point was all he needed.

Top 3 anglers

Top fish caught over the 3 days went to Jamie Amer who caught a massive common of 21-02 closely followed by Adrian Harris with his common of 19-00 which is also his new PB.

Top 6 anglers.

There are a few special people to mention that ensure these festivals go ahead and starting with Rolfslake owners John and Pauline Bennett who are hard working owners who have done everything to ensure that the lake is in the best possible condition for our travelling and visiting anglers {thankyou John and Pauline very much}.

A couple of others to mention who have worked hard in repairing the old platforms were Jamie Amer and Doug Hill who have been very supportive in their time and effort in getting these maintenance jobs completed for the safety and comfort of the anglers { thanks Jamie and Doug you have done a brilliant job}.

These 3 days were tough fishing days for some but both the weather and the fish are two things we cannot control but we hope all our anglers and friends enjoyed their visit to Rolfslake and hope to see you again next year.

All anglers fishing this year will be given first refusal to places next year and we will be starting to collect names for next year in January 2020.

Take care

Eddie
