Atomic A.C club match Sunday 10th 2010.

Today Rolfslake welcomed back Atomic A.C for another battle with Rolfslake’s monsters but unfortunatley the carp were still not ready to settle down to the colder conditions which were with us for the previous week or so.

The anglers were greeted to a sunny day but an eastly wind made presentation difficult but with fish topping all over the lake the anglers still had to work hard to catch the few fish that were feeding. In first place today was Gary Kelsey who was fishing peg 8 between the big and small lake and by fishing down the track at 5 metres on the deck, Gary was able to catch fish on the pellet and paste and after 5 hours put a well earnt 93-00 to record the win { well done Gary }.

Place Peg Angler Weight
1st 8 Gary Kelsey 93-00
2nd 34 Carl Jefferies 88-08
3rd 18 Sue Collins 66-04
4th 4 Martin Olsen 57-12
5th 19 Chris Widdows 39-00
6th 28 Sean Jennings 38-12

John and Pauline Bennett would like to thank the visiting anglers and hopes to see them soon.

Until our next report tight lines Eddie and Simon.

Winter league news.

Winter league series Starts the 7th of November

John Bennett has asked my to remind all competing team captains to confirm their teams to him as soon as possible so he can start preparing for this years winter league.

The target for all the anglers again will be to see if they can beat the invincibles aka Rolfs Team Gold { Lane ,Powell and Bennet } in their quest to win their 10 series in a row. Their team captain Mick Lane told me the secret to their success was to be consistent and ensure that all the team members weigh in, as in previous series there had been good weight from two of the team members from the opposition but a blank would wreck their teams chances.

So all anglers have a great series and give Rolfs Team Gold a run for their money.

Rolfs Team Gold { Powell, Bennett and Lane } the invincibles.

My day comprised of watching plenty of fish topping out on pegs 21 and 22 but even by fishing the waggler shallow and the bomb the fish were just not interested. I had a few fish fizzing and liners but the fish just did not want to feed properly, and the icing on the cake was after working really hard to get a proper bite and with 5 minutes to go the float buried on my 3 metre line and after playing the fish { which was about 10lb } i was just going to net the fish and the hook pulled and it swam away leaving me one fish short of John Bennetts weight.

The score now between me and John stands at John 11 Eddie 9.

On form again. Match Winner, Mick Jones. Well Done

Open Match Saturday 25th Sept 2010.

15 anglers turned up today, some were already at the lake having fished the night match last night. The draw took place and as predicted by Neil Riddy John Bennett opened his hand to reveal peg 8. That rainbow goes from peg 8 to peg 9 😀

Fishing today was from 1-05pm to 6-05pm. Fishing was also very hard today but Mick Jones was having no problems on peg 16 catching regularly from the bush on the right. Myself on peg 9 and Richard on peg 32 were suffering from major foul hook problems, both loosing 7 fish in a row.

On the car park bank Dave Whiteman on peg 26 and Del Smith on peg 29 both started catching well during the last half of the match but it was not enough to catch Mick up. John Hague on peg 11 was running past me with weigher after weigher.

John Bennett was also having a nightmare on peg 8, he had been catching ok in the first half of the match but then lost the fish for the last half without a single bite in the last 2 hours.

This was his last bite of the day 😀

John Bennett with a weigher.

The leaves are falling off the tree’s now at the lake and the temperature is falling meaning autumn is well and truly here.

The match was very hard going for most. On to the results…..
