Steve Williams makes it two out of two.
Steve Williams was todays winner from peg 26 on the car park bank on a cold and rainy day down the lake. Steve today was fishing down the edge in front of peg 27’s platform fishing on the deck using corn as hookbait feeding pellet and he also had a very good run of doubles { Steve had 160lb of weighers on the board } topped by a fantastic common of 23lb and after 5 hours Steve put a fantastic 219-08 to just keep ahead of John in second place.
In second place was lake owner John Bennett who today i had the pleasure of watching for the last two hours as i was working nearby in Headington and today he showed me more tricks than Paul Daniels. John started fishing the left hand margins catching 12 carp on corn hookbait feeding 6mm pellet through a pot only and when this line dried up he fished just in front of the bush to his right in slightly deeper water. Fishing this line John managed to keep the fish coming but he also got broke by two massive fish which messed up his last 30 minutes and in the end fell one fish short of the double ton with 195-00.
Completing the frame was serial framer Pete Arnold on peg 22 who started on the tip catching 8 carp on corn but a switch to fishing the right hand margin again fishing corn upped his catch rate and he also ended up with a hard earned 165-12.
A special note also goes to John Draper who also caught a big common of 20-08 but there were also big carp of 19lb for Pete and John and a 17lb der for Paul Jay.
