In form John Draper makes it two wins out of two.
With the attendances growing in the midweek matches it was nice to see a few returning anglers ready to do battle with Rolfslake’s junk yard dogs as they were called recently in a magazine article as they never give up fighting.
The weather today was warm considering the overcast skies and there were plenty of carp up in the water giving the anglers hope of a good days fishing and todays match was a very close affair as it was last week as any of the top 10 anglers could of won the match today as the carp coming out in the matches are pushing 20lb so two of these push you right up the results table.
It was a slow start for most anglers except Stuart Yeomans on peg 7 who was into fish pretty much straight away fishing the bomb to the far bank fishing pellet hookbait feeding pellet over the top so the signs were looking good for a big weight but the fishing slowed down towards the end of the match. In the big lake there was a good battle developing between Geoff Edwards and Chris Telling on pegs 14 and 16 and after 5 hours only two carp seperated them as they opted to catch all species instead of going for just carp and were rewarded with carp, perch, bream and roach and between them caught nearly 240lb with Chris just coming out on top by just 11lb.
Today winner was John Draper fresh from his match win on Sunday and with John drawing better than Picasso at the moment todays draw of peg 5 gave him another chance to break his PB for the second time in a week. John fished the pole out in front at a range of 8 metres fishing pellet hookbait feeding pellet catching fish to double figures and towards the end of the match saw carp swirling down the edge to his left but left it too late to catch them in any numbers but still did enough to win todays match with his weight of 131-14 { well done John }.
There was a very close match for second place between Stuart Yeomans and Chris Telling on pegs 7 and 16 and after 5 hours was won by Stuart with his weight of 128-08 to Chris’s 128-03.
Todays winner John Draper.

John is saved by the bell.
I could not believe my luck to be drawn next to John on the last three matches and with todays pegs being evenly matched it was going to be very close as we were pegged either side of the gap between the big and small lake on pegs 8 and 32.
John did his best to stop the fish coming through the gap by heavily feeding both the far bank and the channel and he had already caught 5 carp before my I caught my first one. John just like me suffered from lost foul hooked fish but in the end i was just one bite away from beating him as towards the end John’s catch rate slowed up and mine increased. John caught his carp on 8mm banded hard pellet feeding pellet and I caught mine on Pete Archers jelly pellets given to me and my X4 paste mix which has not let me down until today as i had made it too soft and too much additive applied.
At the end John had beaten me by just 6-02 in what has currently been a very close series between us too { well done John ].
The score now stands at
John Bennett with a mixed bag of carp. chub and bream. Well done John.
