A very Cold day down the lake.
Today saw 11 hardy anglers down the lake in which was a very cold day for the anglers on pegs 22 to 28 and slightly less colder for the anglers on the motorway bank. The story of the match was after a very quick fish from John after 5 seconds of going in it was a game of being patient as the odd carp were prepared to feed even though it must of been zero degrees.
The story of the match was that there were a few carp caught around the lake with Russ on peg 34 catching 4 carp for 39-13 to come second with Toby Pope very close behind with also 4 carp but this time they weighed only 34-08 and a few others also caught the odd carp but todays winner was Steve Pope on peg 18 in the corner.
Steve caught around 7 carp for his final weight of 72-15 which was a great weight considering how cold it was and Steve caught his fish fishing long down his left hand edge at the end of the bush and by fishing on the deck he managed to catch his carp and even lost 3 carp but was well clear of second place in what ended up a tough match {well done Steve}.

The curse of the Pirate comes to haunt JB.
With today being the last match of 2014 for me and John in our annual series it was all down to this last match to see if John could win the series overall or if I could claw my way back to draw after being 10-5 down . On a very cold day I was greeted within 5 seconds of the match starting with John shouting at me from across the lake as he was into his first carp of the day at around 11lb so it was going to be a very long 5 hours in the cold.
The great news for me was that was John’s last carp of the match and together with a last gasp bream gave him a final weight of 14-11.
As for me it was case of being patient and with my Colmic rod making a rare appearance and nearly its last as it nearly went in such was the violent bite i had from a 9lb carp and then it was just sorting my long pole line out which i did missing about 10 bites on corn but more importantly hooking and landing another carp of 9lb and together with a lone perch weighed 18-14 to record the important point to draw the series with John after 20 matches this year.
I would like to thank the anglers that have been interested in our battle and more importantly to John for his good natured banter and encouragement even though throughout the year we been unwell or injured at some stage of this battle but we still kept it going so well done John.
To draw with one of the top anglers down the lake is a great feat so well done the Pirate.
The score ends at
John 10
Eddie 10
Thanks for reading John, Simon and Eddie
