Carp go on a feeding frenzy in today’s match.

Today saw a much better attended match with anglers hoping to catch one of the recent bumper weights.

With the green algae still evident on the water surface it seems to of triggered the carp to feed.

Continuing on from his win on Monday Andy Quarmby won today’s match from peg 14 on the motorway bank.

On talking to Andy he told me that he has never had so many carp in his peg at Rolfslake  and lost quite a few today.

Andy started at 6 metres and caught a quick 50lb at the start but with the peg fizzing like crazy Andy came in on a top 2 plus a short 4 and his catch accelerated.

He fished on the deck fishing a 8 mm pellet on the hook feeding 6mm and caught 21 carp and 6 bream for a winning weight of 221-07 (well done Andy ).

There was a battle for 2nd from Frank Donachie on peg 18 and Martin Worrell on peg 34 which was won by Frank with 181-01 to Martin’s 166-03

The big carp still on the feed.

Today saw a much better attendance with the warm weather drawing a few more anglers out.

With the recent run of big weight there is still a chance of a 3 or 400lb weight still on the cards.

Today saw a 3  peg battle between Charlie Bishop on peg 7, Anthony Flint on peg 5 and Andy Quarmby on end peg 4.

Being in the big part of the lake and with fish more content on cruising in the warm water I could not see what how the three were doing.

The winner today and coming back into form was Andy Quarmby on peg 4. Andy fished a few lines ,a long shallow line and long edge line and ending up fishing really close. He used pellet hookbait feeding pellet to catch his carp and still managed to lose a few in his winning weight of 241-04.

There was a very close battle for second place  between Charlie Bishop on peg 7 and Anthony Flint on peg 5. Charlie was at least 9 carp ahead of Anthony coming into the last 2 hours, but a massive effort by Anthony would see him close that gap to one fish at the end.

At the scales Anthony weighed 167-12 only to see Charlie weigh 177-13 and claim second place.

Spare a thought for John Bennett on peg 13 who had 52-08 on the board after a strong run of fish at the end of the match, and when we went to weigh him in his net was gone.

These fish are so full of energy that they pulled his net in and all escaped costing him 4th place.

Big weights still on the cards.

Today saw a low attendance which is amazing considering the big weights of late but it still took another 200lb weight to win the match.

Todays winner was inform angler Anthony Flint who today was drawn on peg 13 on the motorway bank. Anthony started on a 6 metre line which resulted in a small skimmer but fishing was very slow.

Anthony then tried his margin to the left at a range of 4 metres but only had 6 carp but there were too many liners. He then fished right close to the bank which was only 18 inches deep and nevery looked back, catching another 23 carp for his winning weight of 253-14 ( well done Anthony).
