Rolfslake Wednesday Open 24th April 2013.
The fish are on the move.
Todays match was held in the big lake but there were fish every where today with every peg in the small lake either having fish in the margins or up in the water so signs were good for all the anglers. The fastest fish hooked today was in 2 seconds and eventually landed by Andy Quarmby on peg 24 even before most of the anglers had even shipped out so things were looking good for Andy as he eventually went on to win the match with his weight of 177-04 fishing a combination of long fishing shallow and 7 metres fished on the deck both lines fished with 8mm hard banded pellet feeding 3 bags of pellet to get the fish feeding properly.
Andy had fish to double figures which always helps and also a couple of bream but missed a few bites due to the amount of fizzing bubbles in his swim but a slight adjustment of his tactics kept the fish coming to claim the peg king off Johnny Broadbent { well done Andy }. The close battle for second was between Paul Jay on 9 and Andy Rayment on 16 both fishing corn and pellet feeding pellet but Paul was fishing the bush to his right on 9 and Andy was fishing 16 metres shallow and after 5 hours the two were seperated by 11lb with Paul having 133-09 to Andy’s 122-07 which included a beast of 21lb plus.
The lake fished alot better than of late with there being 5 ton plus weights and two just under in with the Jinx league fishing their two day match this weekend and the fish in feeding mode i think their match should be a cracker.
Just a few more photos from today.
And finally.
