Today saw 24 anglers come to support the fund raising for the lola-rosefoundation  {www.lola-rosefoundation.co.uk} ,which promotes research into stillbirth and neonatal death whilst supporting families suffering such a devastating loss.

The day saw 8 pairs which consisted of 8 anglers and 8 non anglers and 8 anglers fishing seperately. The weather was warm if you were on the motorway bank and cold if you had drawn the car park bank, and it was the anglers on pegs 14,15,17 and 18 that saw the majority of the fish although it was no really a competitive match.

The winning pair on the day were Charlie and Terry on pegs 14 and 15 who caught several carp in their winning weight of 112-07 closely followed by Chris and Rich on pegs 18 and 17 with 68-01.

I even had the opportunity to help Charlie on peg 24 who had never fished before catch 3 carp and a few silvers which put him in 5th place out of 24 anglers, which totally made his day.

The big winner of the day was the Foundation which had over £3,000 raised through fundraising and the raffle which was fantastic in helping the charity continue their research and support .

Rolfslake Night Match 10th September 2016

Screenshot_2013-09-14-19-45-18

Night match brings land of the giants.

Tonight saw only the second night match of the year down at Rolfslake. Some of tonight’s 9 anglers were staying down for Neil Riddy’s two day mini Festival.

The match was split into two sections pegs 4,5,7,9 and 10 and the second section 32,27,24 and me on 22.

These matches start at 7pm finishing at midnight and the anglers tonight caught big fish to 19lb and lost many foul hooked fish.

The funny thing from where I was fishing was as it got really late 10.30 pm and the motorway quietened down, all you could hear was swearing from various pegs as anglers lost fish.

Tonight’s match ended up in a three way battle between John Bennett on peg 5 , Andy Quarmby on peg 10 and Anthony flint on peg 32.

The eventual winner and only just was John Bennett on super form peg 5 . John fished a top two plus one fishing paste and feeding 4 bags of pellet which saw John catch fish to 16-08.

John also had his struggles losing fish breaking rigs and missing loads of bites but still came out on top with 223-10.

In a very close battle for second were friends Andy Quarmby and Anthony Flint although they still managed to hurl abuse at each other across the lake.

Andy was claiming he did not have 200lb and he was correct as he had 199-11 but was pipped by Anthony as he had 214-04.

In what was an enjoyable but frustrating match only 2 fish separated first and third and there were plenty of bites to be had.

With the fish still feeding well I still expect a massive weight to be caught before it gets colder, so if you fancy a big weight get down to the lake in September.

Tonight's top 3 John, Anthony and Andy.
