Rolfslake Easter Festival Day 1

Today saw 21 anglers gather for the Rolfslake Easter Festival  on a cold rainy day in Oxford. The anglers are split into three 7 peg sections with the angler who wins gets 1 point going down to 7 points for last.

The angler with the lowest points score wins the festival and in the event of a draw it goes to total weight.

The day started well with anglers in all three sections catching carp early but after two hour the bites dried up.

Michael Corsini the 2017 Champion was catching well in C section but losing a few fish as well.

Andy Ray mentioned in B section was putting a well deseved bag of carp together but it was by no means easy.

In the tough A section.most anglers had caught at least one carp so the result would be very tight.

Report to follow.

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 31st January 2018.

A really cold day down the lake.

Today was a very cold day down the lake with high cold water levels slowing the fish right down.

For two and a half hours not one of the anglers had caught any fish which prompted Pete Archer to cup in 6 balls of SoSimple Baits BMG groundbait.

This really did the trick as soon as he started fishing again he was into fish. Using single maggots and worms Pete caught 3 big carp and 6lb of silvers for his winning weight of 40-04.

In second place was Graham Ridgley who had 4 carp for 31lb on the bomb closely followed by Terry Winstone with 3 carp for 24lb.

John has now opened up the remaining places for the Easter Festival so if you are interested please give John a call.

Today’s Winner Pete Archer (Guru)

Eddie with a lucky double figure carp.

Rolfslake Winter Pairs Round 1.

Top weight of the year in today’s match.

Today saw the start of the winter pairs series which today there were 5 pairs with two added pairs for this round only.

One of the anglers fish for silvers only with the other.fishing for both carp and silvers incase the carp don’ feed.

Today saw a continuation of the big carp coming out with Malc Doyle winning the carp section, with the top weight of the year with his weight of 155-14 .

Malc fish both bomb and long pole on peg 38 in the small lake to catch big carp well into double figures for a great start to the series.

Winning the silvers section was regular framer Andy Quarmby.

Andy had to work hard for for his fish as he had to fish long on peg 26 and a combination of adjusting depths and fishing maggot gave him.a great weight of 22-15.

Top team on the day was Malc and Mick Jones who scored 3 points.

John has 4 places up for grabs for the next 5 rounds to keep the numbers at 14 anglers. If you can fish any of these date please give John a call.

As the league has started you will fish each for the pools in each match but your points will not count.
