Jinx Night Match. 17th June 2011
The Jinxsters returned to the lake today for their annual night match. The match is always held before the normal day-time match so the anglers have the chance to stay over at the lake. Another good thing about this is you know that Malc will be there on time for the draw 😛
The lake was a hive of activity in the daytime. Me and John were on bank on hedge trimming duties along the car park bank. Terry leant a hand cleaning up the trimmings (thanks Terry) Gem asked John if there was anything she could do to help and got given the washing up by John 😀
As the day went on the car park started to fill up with the usual suspects. The tents were put up and and everyone was eagerly awaiting the draw. What most people didn’t know is that Malc had already started the draw on all the best pegs were going like hotcakes 🙁
The reason we knew that the draw had started was Paul Roberts came round to where the tents were with his trainers on fire and a 2 mile smile on his face. He had drawn peg 9, We all walked round to the hut to draw and Paul was already on his peg. We think he teleported round there.
No pictures from the match as it was far too wet sorry.
Fishing today was from 7.30 – 12.30 and it rained for the whole match.
At the start of the match pretty much everyone had a fish or two and then started to struggle for bites. Nick on peg 32 had plenty of bites and fish coming in, Paul on peg 9 was also having a good start. He also managed to catch a new PB carp of over 17lb. Well Done Paul.
I had a blistering start to the match fishing at 5 meters on donkey choker Pellets. I put 9 fish in the net in the first hour but then Marcus fishing on peg 15 decided to show how much he loved me by cupping in TWO BIG POTS of pellets 2 meter from my left hand line that I had been catching off. It killed my swim dead. 😀 😀 I was not bothered as I had 3 lines in front of me and just started catching off the right hand line. (I got my own back the next day, more to follow on that 😀 )
By half way I could see Nick had stopped catching and was struggling for bites and the rest of the carpark bank were all struggling. Malc however on peg 13 was making regular trips the the scales and was catching well on his top secret X4 beating paste :O 😛 There was no splashing or noise coming from peg 15 so I thought I better check on Marcus with another weigher, It was ok he had just fallen asleep 😀
The all out was called and it was still raining so most people left their brollies up and their gear on the pegs as most were fishing tomorrow anyway. Onto the results. Had Malc’s monumental comeback taken top spot? Did Marcus catch a carp? Was anyone dry 😀
