Super Dai crashes his way to a new PB and takes his first Open win of the Year and took a quid of me! (Not sure what made him happiest.) Well done Buddy.
cracking match!
you going this wed mr jones?
Sadly I have to work a full week but will be there Sun & Mon.
I pulled off a mass of foul hookers (could have weighed in about an extra 2lb of single scales!)
Lost 9 in a row from the left margin at one stage so thru the top 2 up the bank and stayed out in front. Easily lost more than I landed but cant be disappointed with 208lb.
I love peg 5, its my favorite peg.
After going to rolfs for 4 years i’ve walked passed it 200 times and drawn it….0!
you need to get tighter to the bank even if its only 8″ deep
How can it be your favourite peg if you’ve not fished it? I know it looks good but not that good!
I was so close in at times I’d miss a bite and pull out a sod of turf! Once or twice I struck a bite and a head would pop onto the bank (then tear off to 36, whoosh, jet propelled!)
lol was a joke. It does win a lot of matches though
use a 0.5g float and nail it down and dont feed where you are fishing, feed 1/2 metre away and pick the big daddies off
Someone told me exactly the same after the match, so it must be true. When I draw it again (next year) I hope I remember. This old dogs just learnt a new trick.
Not sure how Pete fished, other than he arrived late to give us all half an hour head start!
pete archer did well on 28 how did he catch?
always use heavy rigs in edge now its the future
I have some 5g lollipops in my river kit I was thinking of bring along………….
6 no 8 bulk is ok in a foot of water
Not 8 No. 6s then?
4 inch from hook
Bulk half way between float bottom & hook then.
8 x 6s is fine but thats getting well heavy lol use a bomb
Float legering is not allowed, lol.
I seem to recall there were a coule of occasions that as I dropped the bait in they swotted it away onto the bank with thier tails, bit like playing tennis with them.
or put bulk just touching bottom or laying on slope and fish 2-3 inch over depth
yep, too light
Well done Dai on your win and Pb.
Pete you must of caught well over a 1000lb of fish on your last 3 fishing trips.
Nothing nails down your rig better than a big ball of X4 paste.
