Rolfslake Wednesday Open 17th April 2013.

The Rolfslake carp are sturring from their sleep.

With the only way to fish Rolfslake being a Wednesday due to club bookings filling the weekends today started to bring a few more anglers hoping to catch a few carp with the later draw times { 1pm }.

John tells me that the weather today was overcast with sunny spells but a horrible blustery wind made fishing the long pole virtually impossible for some of the anglers and that where you wanted to draw was somewhere on the car park bank which was a little calmer.

Also today saw the return of a few anglers that had not been to Rolfslake for a while in the shape of Jon Walker and Mark Newbold and normally when they are about the weights normally go up so hopefully they would bring some good luck for the rest of the anglers.

It was decided to fish the big lake pegs 8 all the way around to 32 but you did not want peg 8 as there was a strong wind blowing through the gap between the big and small lake and you guessed it today it was drawn by lake owner John Bennett.

Todays winner and no stranger to match wins was Rolfslake lake record holder Jon Walker who was on peg 16 on the motorway bank and Jon used a combination of waggler and long pole fishing corn and pellet to catch carp to double figures in his weight of 182-12 { well done Jon }.

Todays winner Jon Walker { Walker Floats }.

In a close battle for second was a straight battle between  Andy Quarmby and John Emerson on pegs 9 and 26 which was won by Andy by 3lb ,as Andy’s weight went 107-08 to John’s 104-08 which also included a carp of 23lb ( well done Guys for beating the ton weight ).

As the weather is set to be 10 degrees plus I expect the carp to now start to feed in numbers as they have been hibernating since the early part of the year. Also with Wednesday now being your only chance to fish Rolfslake and with new anglers turning up weekly if you are interested in fishing please book in with John Bennett to avoid disappointment.

  • Well done, John. A fine performance.
x5 new Peg Kings on the day so things are looking good (if you can stay away from where I get pegged.)

    • how was that wind Mick? unreal. had to chase sections of my pole about ten times just flying away! No chance of holding more that a top 5 stright in front!

I’ll try and come along again in a couple of weeks if i can get time off work

      • You were lucky with 5 sections, I gave up with 5 and ended up on 3 and at times that was a struggle. It was good to see you (shame you lost so many!) and hope to see ya again soon.

  • Mick you are a proper jinx!!!

you fish friday before festival 13oz comes 3rd, you go home and 200lb comes out next day! lol

last 2 weds you fish and it doesnt fish even though spot on conditions

you should fish Simons ‘jinx’ league!

    • Sadly I cant make the next couple of Wednesdays so you should all do well.
Might be back May 8th (be warned!) unless I can blag a spot on the Jinx Night match on the 10th.
