Wednesday Open Match . 8th June 2011
Cloudy weather today as the anglers dodged the rain clouds. The wind kept the clouds at bay though.
Birthday boy Mick Jones was first in the drawbag today and was promised if he drew peg 10 he could have a re-draw as a birthday present 😛 😀
All but one person were carpless half way in to the match and that person was John Bennett on peg 6. The fish started biting in the last hour and half.
Jon Walker on 9 soon got in to a steady stride catching which was enough to win the match closely followed by Phil Powell on peg 7.
Well done everyone, sounded like a tricky match.

14 Anglers Fished
Happy Birthday Mick, shame I couldn’t have any cake 🙁
It was an odd match indeed.
Although the match anglers were strugggling for fish in the first half the pleasure anglers on the car park bank were catching steadily. This made it rather frustrating for me as I had such a good view of them carrying fish to the scales to weigh them!
Neil and I had a game of guess your wieght before the match started. Neareast at the end to thier guesstimate won a quid off the other. Neil guessed 70lb I guessed 140lb so he took my birthday pound with a smile.
The wind was a right pain, first blowing left ,then right, then across, followed by rain and sun, it even rained when there was blue sky above us (maybe one of the RAF helicopters dumped a load on us!)
I am away for a weeks fishing holiday with my Dad next week so will see you all on the 29th.
Good luck to all that are fishing Fridays night match.
