Feltham Piscatorials Society Club Match 9th May 2010.

Today Rolfslake welcomed the anglers of Feltham Piscatorials Society to the lake, and a eager bunch of anglers were eager to experience a good days fishing with hopefully a few personal bests and a chance of victory. The day today was a cool start with it getting warmer during the day but more importantly the wind had died down from yesterday which normally helps putting a big bag of fish together.

John tells me there were only 13 anglers fishing today as the remaining anglers were fishing a team competition, but the anglers were going to get a bit of space today as the whole of the lake was in use ,and with big weights coming from most of the pegs {look at our peg king Board for the current top weights on each peg} a chance of a big weight is defintely on.

The winner today was Gavin Millis on peg 8 and Gavin decided to fish long across ,which is a good 16 metres and normally quite difficult to do, and was rewarded with plenty of fish. Gavin fished the hard pellet feeding pellet and he caught fish to double figures in his final weight of 194-00 and goes top of the club match winners board {well done Gavin}. In total the anglers caught 4 ton weights with fish to be caught for all the anglers in what John tells me was an enjoyable match for the club.

Atomic Angling Club Match. 25th April.

Atomic Angling Club visited the lake today. 19 anglers turned up hoping for a good days fishing.

The fish were very active, fizzing and popping all over the lake. The weather was quite sunny with the odd shower of rain.

Today’s winner Carl Geoffrey caught long on the pellet from peg 13 but caught the bulk of his fish in the second half of the match at 2 meters in the right hand side on pellet.

The match was nice and close. With only one fish separating the framers.

We hope you enjoyed your visit to the lake.

Well done to Martin and Kenny who have each secured a place on our Peg Kings board.. 😀

Peg  2:- Martin Olsen with 103-0

A.E.C angling club match Sunday 18th April.

Today Rolfs lake welcomed the A.E.C angling club from the Luton area to the lake. As the anglers assembled at the draw fish could be seen topping all over the lake so hopes for a good day were high, and with the day being sunny with a slight breeze that usually helps getting the fish to feed.

The winner of todays club match was Dean Elliott who was draw on peg 16 on the motorway bank and Dean used a combination of pellet waggler and the pole fished up in the water using pellet hookbait to catch fish to double figures in his winning bag of 139-00 { well done Dean }.

A windy day at the lake.

Today Rolfs Lake was host to a club match. 25 anglers were fishing. The wind was blowing across the big lake towards peg 19. The sun was trying to break through the clouds and it looked promising for a nice sunny day. Carp were seen to be topping all over the big lake so it looked like shallow might be a good way to attack…. or would it.

Waiting to do the draw

With the draw done and everyone setting up the sun broke through and black shadows could be seen swimming around the top end of the big lake.  One thing was for sure today and that was that the person that drew peg 20 would get on the peg kings board as its not been fished for a while. That person was Mark Gilbert, new peg king of peg 20. 😀

Top end of the little lake.

With the match under way and the fish still topping a lot of people tried targeting the fish by fishing shallow but at the start people were foul hooking fish and loosing them. Paul Jay on peg 23 was fishing the pellet waggler and was having a few but he was finding it hard firing his pellets out due to the wind blowing them back towards him 😀

Paul Jay with another carp.

After starting on the pole shallow fishing Mick Whitmore on peg 17 has also switched to the pellet waggler and was catching regularly and pulling the fish off Paul. Mick had the wind behind him and had no problem firing out his feed pellets. Mick was storming away in the big lake.

Mick on peg 17 with one of his many shallow caught fish

Simon Mound on peg 15 messing it up 😀

The story on the little lake was that it was not fishing as productive.  Tex on Peg 8 was catching a few and so was Adam on peg 34 (his home peg :P)

The Little Lake.

Back in the big lake Mick on peg 17 was still doing the damage on the pellet waggler. Paul Jay had switched to the bomb and was catching a few more fish. Simon on peg 15 had also managed to catch a few on the bomb.
