Wednesday Open 26th January 2020.

P

Pretty cold day down the lake as the crocodiles make an appearance.

Today saw another well attended mid week open with the day starting sunny turning vey cold during the 5 hours.

Winning today’s match was Mick Denton (Drennan) who managed to catch 4 good carp for his winning weight of 48-03.

Mick fished at a range of about 16 metres on the bomb to catch his carp to 17lb.

The top silver’s weight in what is now a match within a match was won by Martin Page from the fridge peg 13 with his weight of 6-15 just ahead of the chasing pack.

Poor Mick Jones on peg 16 was keeping pace with Martin only to suffer pike attacks on his silver’s as did Anthony Tompkins on peg 40.

Wednesday Open 5th January.

Very cold day down the lake.

After last night frost it really slowed down the fishing in today’s match.

The winner was Gordon Worrell ( Top Tackle ) who managed 4 carp for 50-09 from peg 15.

Gordon caught his carp on corn and the biggest was around 16lb.

There was a very close silver’s battle between Dick Cullen on 38 and Gordon on 5 and in the end it was won by Dick by 1 ounce.

Bank Holiday Monday Open 3rd Jan 2022.

The colder weather slows the fishing down

On another well attended open the fishing was slower today but the big carp were still happy to feed.

Today’s winner was last week’s midweek winner Richard Greene who was on peg 38 in the small lake.

Richard again fished his favoured corn hook bait but fishing long towards peg 39 and was rewarded with fish to 17lb in his winning weight of 89-14.

Richards travelling partners today all managed to pick up winning which is not bad considering it is only their second visit to the lake.

Top silver’s weight was Brian Hutchings with 10-11 on peg 34 which is not bad as it is considered an out and out carp peg.

Rolfslake Wednesday Open 27th December

Today saw the anglers fish one of the last matches of 2021 and was well attended.

The weather was cold with rain on and off but the carp were happy to have a feed especially the bigger  specimens.

Richard had carp to 18lb in which was a great weight for December.

Rolfslake Saturday mini open 14th August

Today saw a mini open in the big lake as there was a memorial match on the small lake.

There were many fish hooked and lost as the carp were in a feeding mood.

Top weight today was Steve Wilson on peg 14 who fished waggler and pole to catch fish to double figures in his weight of 111-07.

Steve fished both margins to speed up his catch rate.

Top carp of the day went to slim who had a lovely 20lb common but even topping that was Gary on peg 24 who caught the first tench seen at the lake in 10 years.
