Jinx Night Match. 17th June 2011

The Jinxsters returned to the lake today for their annual night match. The match is always held before the normal day-time match so the anglers have the chance to stay over at the lake. Another good thing about this is you know that Malc will be there on time for the draw ๐Ÿ˜›

The lake was a hive of activity in the daytime. Me and John were on bank on hedge trimming duties along the car park bank. Terry leant a hand cleaning up the trimmings (thanks Terry) Gem asked John if there was anything she could do to help and got given the washing up by John ๐Ÿ˜€

As the day went on the car park started to fill up with the usual suspects. The tents were put up and and everyone was eagerly awaiting the draw. What most people didn’t know is that Malc had already started the draw on all the best pegs were going like hotcakes ๐Ÿ™

The reason we knew that the draw had started was Paul Roberts came round to where the tents were with his trainers on fire and a 2 mile smile on his face. He had drawn peg 9, We all walked round to the hut to draw and Paul was already on his peg. We think he teleported round there.

No pictures from the match as it was far too wet sorry.

Fishing today was from 7.30 – 12.30 and it rained for the whole match.

At the start of the match pretty much everyone had a fish or two and then started to struggle for bites. Nick on peg 32 had plenty of bites and fish coming in, Paul on peg 9 was also having a good start. He also managed to catch a new PB carp of over 17lb. Well Done Paul.

I had a blistering start to the match fishing at 5 meters on donkey choker Pellets. I put 9 fish in the net in the first hour but then Marcus fishing on peg 15 decided to show how much he loved me by cupping in TWO BIG POTS of pellets 2 meter from my left hand line that I had been catching off. It killed my swim dead. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ I was not bothered as I had 3 lines in front of me and just started catching off the right hand line. (I got my own back the next day, more to follow on that ๐Ÿ˜€ )

By half way I could see Nick had stopped catching and was struggling for bites and the rest of the carpark bank were all struggling. Malc however on peg 13 was making regular trips the the scales and was catching well on his top secret X4 beating paste :O ๐Ÿ˜› There was no splashing or noise coming from peg 15 so I thought I better check on Marcus with another weigher, It was ok he had just fallen asleep ๐Ÿ˜€

The all out was called and it was still raining so most people left their brollies up and their gear on the pegs as most were fishing tomorrow anyway. Onto the results. Had Malc’s monumental comeback taken top spot? Did Marcus catch a carp? Was anyone dry ๐Ÿ˜€

Rolfslake Open Wednesday 15th June 2011

ย Tough day down the lake except for Jon Walker.

Today the anglers were hoping that the big weights from the Friday night match cotinued but as usual Rolfslake had other ideas.

The story of the match was there were plenty of fish cruising around but proving to be very difficult to catch and on a few pegs the fish were blowing but again they were not feeding in any numbers.

ย

In first place and making it 4 WINS IN FOUR MATCHES was master float maker and lake king Jon Walker who today was on peg 6 on the motorway bank and in the small lake. Jon tells me he opted to fish two lines a long 13 metre line and a short 6 metre line fishing on the deck on both these lines and using a variety of baits corn, pellet and meat Jon was able to keep the fish coming. Jon today also had fish to double figures in his net and at the end of 5 hours put a very hard earned 138-08 on the scales for the win {well done Jon} but he even realised that this was a low weight for this time of year

In second place and an angler i had not seen for a while was fellow Cartel member Mick Lane, who was moaning about his lack of drawing good pegs recently but as we all know about Mick he would give Picasso a run for his money and went he took his hand out of the draw bag and saw peg 8 he got a few good luck comments i dont think.

Anyway Mick fished a variety of methods ,long across down the gap and to the bush to his left and by fishing meat and pellet Mick also caught fish to double figures in his final weight of 98-00 and a skimmer short of another ton weight.

ย

Completing the frame was form angler Mark Newbold who was fishing on peg 14 in the big lake and he also struggled to catch but by rotating his fishing lines he managed to catch on shallow and full depth rigs using pellet and paste to catch his weight of 82-00 and continue his framing sequence.

Simon, John, Paulย and I are currently working on the photo and feature board down the lake which we hope all our visiting anglers will find enjoyable and informative. If any of our visiting anglers take any pictures that they would like for us to consider putting in the board please send it to the the website and Simon ,John and I and we will have a look.

Also for all our visiting anglers please read the rules for the lake when you arrive as there are checks in place during the match and at the weigh-in to ensure none of the rules are broken . The rules are for the well being of the fish first and for for the fairness of all the anglers second as we do not want any of the big fish damaged by being put in keepnets for any period of time, and i know all anglers will support us in this subject.

Results 15 fished.

The Pirate was lost at sea as the Bennett storm sunk the the pirate ship to gain another point.

With John on peg 10 and me on peg 22 we were both going to struggle today on a normal match and today it was going to be really hard.

I was only one peg away from where i caught nearly 250lb on Friday but it felt like i was fishing the M40 as the peg was devoid of fish and bites as peg 22 is a bit of hit and miss and today i am sure my paste approach which has served me well was to inflexible to catch anything other than carp and my reward for 5 hours fishing was 3 carp one tiny carp of a pound and a small skimmer for 24-04 so i got what i deserved today NOTHING.

John should of battered me today but again he struggled and opted to catch silvers whilst he could not catch carp so at least he was putting fish in to the net, and towards the end of the match he also caught 4 carp but they went 28lb and he even lost a couple so i think he deserved his point today but don’t tell him i said this it will be our secret.

The score between me and John stands at.
